Do you have weekend hours?

No. Our office is generally open Monday through Wednesday 8:00 to 5:00, Thursday 8:00 to 6:00 and Friday 8:00 to 4:00. When the office is closed, you can call our phone number (615-776-2019) and press the Emergency option. This will take you to our answering service who can page the doctor directly.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment in full is due upon services rendered. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, CareCredit, personal checks and cash. Unfortunately, we cannot accept American Express.

Do dogs/cats see in color?

Recent studies suggest that domestic animals do have color vision, but that it differs from human color vision. Domestic animals have fewer numbers and types of cones than humans which limits their color spectrum.

Dogs lack green cones which causes them to confuse red and green and have difficulty differentiating among colors in the middle of this wavelength. Cats also have diminished color vision, but they can distinguish between two colors if they differ greatly and if the objects are large.

New Patients

Do I need a referral from my regular veterinarian?

No. It is always helpful to know the history of your pet's eye condition, but it is not necessary.

What do I need to bring to an initial exam?

1. All medications and instructions that are currently being used.
2. Contact information for your regular veterinarian.
3. Payment method. Payment is expected in full upon completion of the exam.
4. Although not required, it is helpful to have a Referral Form faxed over from your regular veterinarian. It should include recent blood work, if available, and information about chronic conditions.

Breeders

At what age can a genetic eye screen be done?

We prefer that a dog be at least 8 weeks old before the test is performed.

What do I need to bring for a CERF exam?

1. Your pet’s Registered Name and Birth Date.
2. Permanent ID and/or Microchip Number
3. AKC Number.
4. For large litters, please bring additional help.
5. Payment method. Payment is expected in full upon completion of the exam.

Surgery

What do I need to bring for surgery?

1. Current medications.
2. Elizabethan collar (if owner has one).
3. Payment method. Payment is expected in full upon completion of the surgery.

Will my pet stay overnight following surgery?

No. All of our surgery patients should check in by 8:00 on the morning of their surgery, and they are usually discharged early to mid afternoon that same day.
